According to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) on July 7, the recording captures a Russian serviceman describing two Bangladeshi men who had become separated from their unit and were found in a wooded area near the front line.
In the intercepted audio published by HUR, the Russian soldier says the two men were unable to identify even their own call signs or explain which unit they belonged to.
“Rom, they don’t know anything. They don’t know their call signs. They’re from Bangladesh—two of them. One is called Rubi or something, and the other Moisel. They showed me their patch—a patch with a tiger on it that says '6th Assault.' They’ve been wandering around lost for three days,” the serviceman says in the intercepted conversation, translated from Russian.

According to HUR, the two men showed the soldier a shoulder patch bearing a tiger emblem and the words “6th Assault.” The serviceman also says they had spent three days wandering after becoming separated from their unit.
HUR said the intercepted conversation is further evidence that Russia continues recruiting foreign nationals to offset battlefield losses. The agency did not provide details on how the Bangladeshi nationals were recruited or identify the unit beyond the insignia mentioned in the recording.
Earlier, reports indicated that Russia has largely excluded foreign nationals who fought in its military from prisoner exchanges with Ukraine, leaving many captured recruits in prolonged detention.
