Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a one-week ultimatum to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, demanding the removal of military equipment used by Russian forces to coordinate attacks along the Ukrainian border.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv on June 19 alongside Honduran President Nasry Asfura, Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine will take direct military action to neutralize the equipment if Belarus fails to act within 7 days, Suspilne News reported on June 19.

The equipment, located along the border of two Ukrainian regions, consists of Belarusian and Russian signal repeaters mounted on border towers.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, these devices are actively tracking targets and adjusting fire against Ukrainian civilian populations, directly contradicting Minsk's public claims of neutrality.

"On his towers, there are repeaters, Russian repeaters, Belarusian. What difference does it make to us? On his territory, along two oblasts bordering Ukraine, there is equipment that adjusts fire on the Ukrainian population. Can he remove this? Why words that he does not want to be in the war? Let them turn off this equipment. I think one week will be enough for him to do this. If he does not do this, we will do it," Zelenskyy stated.

The warning marks a significant escalation in border tensions as Kyiv continues to monitor hostiles operating out of Belarus during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

During his visit to the northern city of Slavutych on May 21, Zelenskyy coordinated border defense strategies with local leaders and issued a stern warning to Belarus, stating that any new aggressive actions against Ukraine would be met with severe consequences.

Meeting with community heads from the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, Zelenskyy emphasized that the ongoing construction of fortifications and the deployment of additional defense forces were specifically designed to secure the northern frontier against potential threats originating from Belarus and Russia’s Bryansk region.
