A series of Russian aerial strikes targeting the city of Zaporizhzhia on July 3 left two men dead and 21 people wounded, including a 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.

Out of the 21 injured individuals, 12 people are currently hospitalized, with nine admitted for treatment and three undergoing medical examinations. Local officials reported that three of the victims are in serious condition, and many suffered shrapnel injuries from the blasts, according to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

"A man was injured due to an enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia. Russians continue to terrorize the city with drones. They attacked the private sector. A house was damaged, and a fire broke out," Ivan Fedorov stated.

Russian forces launched a second wave of attacks using guided aerial bombs against an industrial enterprise in the city. Fedorov later stated, "Russian guided aerial bombs attacked one of the industrial enterprises. The premises were damaged. There is preliminary information about the death of one person and at least five injured."

The death toll later officially confirmed that two men died as details emerged from the scene.

The consecutive strikes caused widespread destruction across the targeted areas, shattering windows, destroying civilian vehicles, and sparking fires in both residential and non-residential buildings.

A UN report released on July 3, 2026, revealed that Russian air attacks across Ukraine killed at least 1,270 civilians and injured over 6,000 others over an 18-month period, marking a 40% surge in civilian casualties.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk attributed this sharp increase to Russia’s extensive deployment of long-range weapons and drones, highlighting specific strikes in mid-May that launched over 1,500 missiles and drones, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.

Additionally, the UN documented severe human rights violations, reporting that Russian forces executed at least 20 Ukrainian prisoners of war since mid-November 2025, while another 129 released soldiers reported experiencing torture and sexual violence during their captivity.
