Russia launched multiple guided aerial bomb strikes on Komyshuvakha in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, killing at least 24 people and injuring five, State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on November 2.

“Since the morning, there have already been several aerial bomb strikes on the settlement—on a school that was used for humanitarian needs, where humanitarian aid was distributed to people,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service added that those killed in the Russian strikes included two rescue workers, Denis Konovalenko and Oleksiy Sushchevsky, and four police officers. Another five people were wounded, including two rescue workers.

“After the first aerial bomb strike, there was a repeated strike with another nine bombs, specifically on the shelter where people were,” Zelenskyy wrote.

Rescue operations and searches remained underway at the site, with military personnel, emergency workers, and special services involved.

Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces “could not have been unaware” that residents who remained in Komyshuvakha received humanitarian assistance at the school every week.

“This is further proof that Russia does not want any de-escalation or any real justice,” Zelenskyy stated. “With such killings, Russia is sending the exact opposite signal—Russia is counting on further killings.”

The attack in Komyshuvakha followed another Russian strike on civilian infrastructure the same day. Earlier on November 2, a Russian drone hit a hospital in central Kherson, damaging several rooms and shattering windows and doors, although no injuries were reported.
