Russia Unleashes More Than 350 Missiles and Drones on Ukraine, Killing Eight and Wiping Out Family Home

Russia launched more than 70 missiles and 280 attack drones across Ukraine overnight on July 30, killing at least eight people—including members of a family whose home was destroyed by a ballistic missile—and injuring dozens from Kyiv to Lviv.

The nationwide attack struck Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as the Dnipro, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Dozens of homes, civilian businesses, and infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed.

Near Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a ballistic missile directly struck a private home in the village of Radushne, according to Head of the Military Administration of Kryvyi Rih Oleksandr Vilkul.

“Last night, a Russian missile strike on Radushne in the Dnipro region killed parents and three children,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.

“Two more children were pulled alive from under the rubble. It was an ordinary home, blown into smithereens by a ballistic missile…” he added.

Six people were killed and 10 wounded across the Dnipropetrovsk region, with children among the dead. Emergency crews continued searching the wreckage after the strike, according to the Dnipropetrovsk region administration.

In Kyiv, ballistic missiles struck shortly after an air raid alert was declared. One person was killed and two others wounded, while residential buildings, storage facilities, vehicles, a market, and a garage cooperative sustained damage. Fires also broke out in the Sviatoshynskyi and Obolonskyi districts, Kyiv city mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

Five people were also wounded in the Kyiv region’s Brovary district, including a minor.

Lviv was struck at approximately 4:45 am. The attack damaged more than 20 residential buildings, a school, and two kindergartens. More than 30 people were injured as rescuers continued clearing rubble and searching for missing residents, according to the city mayor Andrii Sadovy.

Explosions were also reported in Vinnytsia, while a jet-powered Shahed struck an industrial area in Kharkiv. In the Zhytomyr region, two adults and three children were reported injured, according to Vitaliy Bunechko, Governor of the Zhytomyr region.

A Russian drone attack on warehouses in the Poltava region killed one person.

Zelenskyy said Russia used “more than 70 missiles” in the assault, with ballistic weapons accounting for a significant portion.

“There were also over 280 attack drones,” he said. “More than 260 drones were intercepted.”

Ukrainian combat aircraft shot down a significant number of cruise missiles, while mobile fire teams also engaged some of the incoming weapons, according to Zelenskyy.

He praised Ukrainian air defense crews for achieving those results despite what he described as a critical shortage of interceptor missiles from partner countries.

“Given the critical shortage of air defense missiles from our partners, our warriors are accomplishing truly incredible things, demonstrating a very high level of professionalism,” Zelenskyy wrote.

He warned that delayed deliveries of anti-ballistic interceptors were contributing directly to civilian deaths and destruction.

“Untimely assistance and delays in the delivery of anti-ballistic missiles lead to this kind of destruction, these kinds of casualties that, unfortunately, we are seeing today,” he said.

“This Russian terror once again proves that protection against the Russian missile threat is the most important task when it comes to saving the lives of our people,” Zelenskyy added.

Previously, Russia launched a large-scale overnight attack against Ukraine on July 26, firing seven ballistic missiles, one Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile, and 136 attack drones, with strikes recorded at 18 locations across the country.
