At least 12 people were killed and 19 injured in a Russian strike on Kramatorsk, Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin reported in an update on October 8.

“Twelve lives that Russia took in a single moment,” Filashkin stated.

“These are not ‘consequences of war’ and not dry statistics. These are people killed by the Russian army,” he added. “Russia comes to Ukrainian land with death. It strikes our cities, kills our people, and multiplies its crimes every day.”

Filashkin reported additional Russian attacks across the Donetsk region. Two people were killed in Zelene in the Pokrovsk district, while one person was killed and three injured in Sloviansk.

The Sloviansk attack damaged an apartment building, an administrative building, a shop, a service station, a gas station, a car, and a civilian bus. In Vesela Hora, one person was killed, and a private house was damaged.

Russian attacks also injured people in Zoloti Prudy and Druzhkivka. Buildings and vehicles were damaged in Oleksandrivka, Petrivka Persha, Novostepanivka, Stepanivka, and Serhiivka.

Filashkin reported that Russian forces struck settlements across the Donetsk region 31 times during the reporting period. Authorities evacuated 256 people from frontline areas, including 32 children.

“I urge everyone who still remains in the Donetsk region to evacuate to safer regions of Ukraine,” Filashkin stated.

Days earlier, a Russian strike killed 18 people in Pryluky, including children, after a five-story residential building was hit. At least 50 others were injured as rescuers searched the rubble for people who may have remained trapped.
