Russian Attacks Damage 16 Kyiv Gas Stations, Officials Says No Fuel Shortage Expected For Now

Russian attacks have damaged 16 gas stations across Kyiv since the beginning of 2026, though city authorities say the strikes are not expected to cause fuel shortages in the Ukrainian capital, acting head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Andrii Tkachov said.

Speaking on Ukraine’s national telethon on September 15, Tkachov said Russian forces have been deliberately targeting gas stations in Kyiv, with the number of damaged facilities now reaching 16.
Despite the damage, he said Kyiv’s fuel market remains stable and there is currently no threat of shortages in the city.

Tkachov stressed that the primary concern during Russian aerial attacks remains the safety of residents, urging Kyiv residents to follow air raid procedures and seek shelter when alerts are issued.
“First and foremost, our citizens must follow safety measures and remain in shelters. Gas stations must close during air raid alerts, and all customers and employees must evacuate to the nearest shelter,” Tkachov said.
His remarks followed another series of strikes on Kyiv earlier on September 15, when Russian drones targeted two Ukrnafta gas stations in separate districts of the capital.

In the Darnytskyi district, a drone hit a gas station, prompting emergency crews to respond to the scene. One person injured in the strike was hospitalized in serious condition, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Another drone struck a gas station in the Holosiivskyi district, causing heavy smoke in the area. According to a hromadske correspondent, the facility was struck by a Russian jet-powered Shahed drone, which struck the building directly above the checkout area and damaged the roof.
