According to reports published by the monitoring project Krymskyi Veter on June 8, Russian forces have begun disguising military logistics vehicles as civilian trucks as Ukrainian drone strikes increasingly target supply routes linking occupied Crimea with Russian-held territories in southern Ukraine.

According to Krymskyi Veter, a military Ural-4320 truck was recently spotted in northern occupied Crimea repainted in civilian-style colors and modified to resemble a commercial dump truck. The vehicle was reportedly driven by a man wearing civilian clothing, although military registration plates remained visible.

According to Krymskyi Veter, Russia’s Dnepr Group of Forces has also ordered wider use of civilian vehicles to transport fuel along routes linking Rostov-on-Don with occupied Crimea.

Separate footage published by Exilenova+ showed fuel being transported in civilian passenger vehicles loaded with fuel canisters reportedly intended for Russian military units in occupied Zaporizhzhia region.

The adaptations appear to reflect growing pressure on Russian logistics networks. Ukrainian drone strikes have increasingly targeted fuel tankers, cargo trucks, ports, rail infrastructure, and fuel storage facilities on occupied territories. Recent attacks have also affected key transport routes, including the Chonhar Bridge connecting occupied Crimea with mainland Ukraine.

According to Krymskyi Veter, the increased use of civilian-looking vehicles coincides with restrictions on Russian freight traffic through occupied parts of Kherson region toward Crimea following repeated drone attacks.

The monitoring project also reported fuel supply challenges on the peninsula, where local authorities have previously introduced limits on fuel sales to civilian motorists.

The development follows earlier Russian attempts to reduce drone detection by painting military vehicles with distinctive white-striped camouflage patterns, sometimes referred to as “zebra” camouflage.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov previously announced the “Logistic Lockdown” program, a campaign of mid-range strikes designed to disrupt Russian logistics networks behind the front line.

The initiative prioritizes attacks on supply routes, fuel infrastructure, ammunition depots, command posts, and key transport corridors connecting occupied Crimea with Russian-held territories in southern Ukraine.
