The overnight attack on Ukraine followed a broader daytime offensive that escalated into a prolonged combined missile and drone attack targeting both critical and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.
The daytime strikes left at least 14 people dead and more than 80 injured, among them children.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia launched more than 1560 drones since midnight last night.

In total, air defenses shot down 41 missiles and 652 drones. Ukrainian forces intercepted all three Kh-47 “Kinzhal” aeroballistic missiles, 12 of 18 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 29 of 35 Kh-101 cruise missiles, the General Staff reported.
Out of 675 attack drones, 652 were destroyed or suppressed.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a non-residential building was struck, while in the Obolonskyi district missile debris fell at multiple locations, including onto a three-story parking structure and a business center. Debris also hit an apartment on the 12th floor of a residential building, sparking a fire.
Another strike in Obolon hit a 25-story unfinished high-rise building, the mayor said.
The Darnytskyi district sustained some of the heaviest damage. Debris fell near non-residential buildings, while fires broke out at kiosks and a gas station. Klitschko later reported that structural elements of a residential building had collapsed. Search-and-rescue operations remained underway.
In the Dniprovskyi district, strikes damaged a private house and a five-story residential building, while additional fires broke out in garages and among parked vehicles following the attack.
Authorities also reported debris falling onto non-residential areas in the Solomianskyi district, while in the Holosiivskyi district fragments struck a business center building.
The overnight attack on Kyiv also extended across the surrounding Kyiv region, where Russian drones and missiles struck civilian areas in at least six districts, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
Kalashnyk said the region remained under a “massive enemy attack” throughout the night, with Russian forces targeting “peaceful settlements, ordinary homes, and civilian life.”
In the Boryspil district, five people were injured, including a man and a woman hospitalized with shrapnel wounds. Three additional women received medical assistance at the scene. Another woman born in 1984 was injured in the Fastiv district and treated on-site.
Regional authorities reported widespread damage across the region. In the Bucha district, a warehouse building and two vehicles caught fire. Three private homes were damaged in the Obukhiv district, while in the Brovary district strikes damaged three houses, a vehicle, and a business facility.
Additional destruction was recorded in the Boryspil district, where a multi-story residential building, six vehicles, a private house, utility structures, and an enterprise sustained damage. Multi-story residential buildings were also damaged in the Fastiv district, while a private home was hit in the Bila Tserkva district.
Meanwhile, in southern Ukraine, Russian forces carried out several waves of overnight drone attacks against Odesa, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration.
Lysak said Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted the incoming drones, preventing direct hits and casualties. He credited the outcome to what he described as the “professional work” of Ukraine’s defense forces during the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces had launched at least 800 drones since the beginning of May 13, with additional waves of UAVs continuing to enter Ukrainian airspace into the evening.
According to him, the strikes were directed against infrastructure facilities as well as civilian areas across multiple regions of the country.
Just a day earlier, Russian drones targeted critical infrastructure across several districts in the Zakarpattia region, with 11 Shahed and Geran-type UAVs entering the region’s airspace during the attack, according to Myroslav Biletskyi, head of the Regional Military Administration.
