The attack occurred during the day when both staff members and civilian visitors were present inside the facility. Following air raid alerts, most occupants managed to reach emergency shelters.
However, a double direct hit on the structure caused the deaths of the two officers and left more than 40 individuals injured. Emergency and rescue crews immediately began operations at the site.
The interior minister of Ukraine stated that the day marked a tragic loss for the National Police and the entire internal affairs system. He emphasized that the attack was a deliberate strike carried out at a time when civilians were using the facility.

He noted that Russian forces are deliberately targeting personnel providing aid, describing the event as a continuation of tactics aimed at striking defenders and emergency personnel whose services and infrastructure face daily risks during assistance operations.
The daytime strike hit the main building of the regional police department, setting fire to the roof and the fourth floor of the structure.
Medical assistance was provided to all injured individuals as search and rescue efforts continued at the damaged site.

At the same day, Russian forces targeted a civilian minibus with an FPV drone in Kherson’s Korabelnyi district during the morning rush hour.
The deliberate attack killed four passengers—three women aged 89, 71, and 63, and a 69-year-old man—and injured at least five others.
Despite suffering a concussion and blast injuries himself, the 58-year-old driver immediately drove the damaged vehicle directly to a hospital to get urgent medical care for the wounded.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike, highlighting it as another instance of a brutal Russian campaign against civilians in frontline regions.
