Ukraine Hits Russian Drone Bases in Temporarily Occupied Crimea and Donetsk, Fuel Depot in Belgorod

Ukrainian defense forces struck multiple Russian military facilities in Russia’s Belgorod region and across Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine on August 31 and overnight on September 1, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.

According to the General Staff, the strikes targeted facilities used to launch and support Russian attack drones, as well as a communications hub, a command and observation post, military equipment, and a fuel depot.

In Russian-occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea, Ukrainian forces struck sites used by Russian troops for the storage, preparation, and launch of attack drones.

Another strike targeted a Russian military communications hub in Myrne, in temporarily occupied Crimea.

In Polohy, Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian command and observation post, while an area where Russian military equipment was concentrated was targeted in Verkhnokamianka, Luhansk region.

The operation also extended into Russian territory. In Borisovka, Belgorod region, Ukrainian forces struck a fuel and lubricants depot used by the Russian military, according to the General Staff.

The extent of the damage caused by the strikes is still being assessed.

The latest strikes follow other recent Ukrainian operations targeting Russian air defense assets in Crimea and southern Russia. Ukrainian forces destroyed two Russian Pantsir-S1 short-range air defense systems in separate strikes on August 29 and 30.

The first system was destroyed near the Russian-occupied city of Kerch in Crimea on August 29, while the second was struck the following day near a military airfield in Yeysk, Russia’s Krasnodar region.
