Ukraine Hits Russia’s Strategic Fuel Reserve 1,300 km Behind the Front

Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several Russian military and logistics targets on July 27 and overnight into July 28, including a strategic state fuel storage facility in Russia’s Udmurt Republic located more than 1,300 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 28, Ukrainian forces struck the Prioritet state reserve facility in the settlement of Borok, Russia’s Udmurt Republic, on July 27. The General Staff reported that the strike hit its intended target and caused a fire at the site.

The facility is part of Russia’s Rosrezerv state material reserve system and serves as a strategic fuel storage base. It is designed to maintain long-term reserves of fuel, petroleum products, and lubricants intended for emergency situations and wartime requirements. The facility is described as a restricted strategic site protected by militarized security.

The General Staff noted that the depot is situated more than 1,300 kilometers (about 800 miles) from Ukraine’s border.

In the same operation, Ukrainian forces also struck a logistics warehouse and a fuel and lubricants storage facility near the settlement of Ichki in temporarily occupied Crimea, according to the General Staff.

Another reported target was a warehouse used to store Russian unmanned aerial vehicles near Chervonopopivka in the occupied part of Ukraine’s Luhansk region.

The Ukrainian military said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to reduce Russia’s military and economic capabilities by targeting infrastructure supporting its war effort. The General Staff stated that Ukraine’s Defense Forces would continue conducting strikes against military objectives linked to Russia’s armed aggression.

Earlier, Ukraine’s General Staff reported strikes on a Russian drone control relay near Zaliznyi Port in temporarily occupied Kherson region and a road bridge across the Henichesk Strait, along with attacks on an export terminal in Russia’s Rostov region and several military logistics facilities in occupied Crimea and Luhansk region.
