Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a second Russian Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol ship in the temporarily occupied Crimean port of Kerch within two days, while also targeting multiple maritime logistics assets, a fuel depot near Moscow, and a railway bridge used by Russian forces.

According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces on July 18, Ukrainian forces hit another Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol ship in Kerch on July 18. The military said it was the second vessel of the same class struck in the port over the past two days, following an earlier attack reported on July 17.

The Svetlyak-class ships are operated by Russia’s FSB Border Guard Service and are used for maritime patrol, escort missions, and security operations around occupied Crimea. Moscow has increasingly relied on such vessels to protect the Kerch Strait, the Crimean Bridge, and nearby ports that play a key role in supplying Russian forces.

In the same operational update, the General Staff reported strikes on two oil tankers, two floating cranes, and one tugboat operating in the Black and Azov seas. According to the Ukrainian military, the tankers were used to transport oil products and fuel for Russia’s armed forces, while the cranes and tug supported military cargo handling and port logistics.

Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol ships entered service in the late 1980s as replacements for older Soviet border patrol boats. The vessels have a full displacement of approximately 375 tonnes, a crew of 28, and a top speed exceeding 30 knots.

Depending on the variant, they can be armed with 76.2 mm or 30 mm naval guns, heavy machine guns, man-portable air-defense systems, and anti-saboteur grenade launchers.

The latest strike follows Ukraine’s previously reported attack on another Svetlyak-class vessel in Kerch on July 17, marking the second confirmed attack against the class in as many days as Kyiv continues expanding strikes against Russian military infrastructure in occupied Crimea and beyond.
