The competition is being organized jointly with Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the National Guard’s 2nd Corps “Khartia,” according to Brave1.

Battle Proven will focus on defense technologies that are already operating on the battlefield or are expected to reach combat deployment within the next year. Organizers said startups from both Ukraine and abroad are invited to participate at different stages of development.

According to Brave1, selected participants will be divided into three categories based on the maturity of their technologies.

The “Trail Blazers” category will include teams developing early-stage concepts and experimental battlefield solutions. “Gamechangers” will feature startups whose products have already undergone field testing, while “Power Players” will focus on companies with systems already being used systematically by Ukrainian forces and prepared for scaling.

The competition will be held as part of Defense Tech Valley 2026, which organizers describe as Ukraine’s largest defense technology event. According to the official event website, more than 7,000 visitors from over 50 countries are expected to attend, including international investors, defense manufacturers, military representatives, and technology companies.

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, the event is intended to help scale Ukrainian battlefield technologies to global markets and expand cooperation between Ukrainian and foreign defense companies.

Defense Tech Valley has rapidly expanded since its launch. Previous editions of the summit attracted thousands of participants and secured more than $100 million in investment commitments for Ukrainian defense technology projects, according to Brave1 and the Ministry of Defense.

Brave1, launched by the Ukrainian government in 2023, has become one of the country’s main platforms for accelerating military innovation. The initiative coordinates cooperation between developers, military units, investors, and government agencies, while also allowing foreign companies to test technologies in Ukraine under battlefield conditions.

Earlier, European defense firm Destinus announced plans to develop the RUTA Block 3 long-range strike missile with Rheinmetall, aiming to create a precision weapon with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers. The system is expected to undergo operational testing in Ukraine and enter flight trials in 2027.
