Ukraine Strikes Russian R-161-5 Polyus-5 Strategic Communications System

Ukraine’s 413th Raid Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck a Russian R-161-5 Polyus-5 mobile radio station in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, the unit reported on October 5.

According to the brigade, operators from its 1st Battalion detected the Russian communications system and struck it twice.
The unit said the R-161-5 Polyus-5 is designed to provide secure, interference-resistant communications at the strategic command level.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces targeted multiple Russian military sites across temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories on October 4 and overnight into October 5, including facilities used for drone operations, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.
In the Donetsk area, Ukrainian forces struck a facility where Russian troops stored, prepared, and launched attack drones. The General Staff said the continued targeting of such sites is aimed at limiting Russia’s capacity to operate strike UAVs against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
A Russian communications hub in the Donetsk area was also hit during the operations.

Ukrainian drone operators destroyed a Russian tank and targeted artillery systems and logistics vehicles across multiple frontline sectors after Russian forces moved heavy armor into areas under extensive Ukrainian UAV surveillance, Ukrainian military units reported on October 4.
Ukraine’s 16th Army Corps published footage showing drone operators from the Hart border brigade conducting strikes in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector. The targets included a Russian tank that had been moved from cover despite intensified Ukrainian drone reconnaissance in the area.
