Ukraine will receive an additional 15,000 long-range artillery rounds from Denmark under a military assistance package, with part of the ammunition already delivered, according to Ukraine’s defense ministry.

The announcement was made by Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov via Facebook on June 24.

The defense chief said the Ukrainian side had proposed revising previously planned assistance and redirecting resources from short-range ammunition to long-range artillery munitions.

“Long-range munitions are currently one of the key requests from the frontline. In the context of the constant expansion of the drone kill zone, they allow for more effective targeting of the enemy, its logistics, and command posts, while reducing risks for our troops,” the minister said.

Fedorov thanked Denmark for its rapid coordination and willingness to adapt military support to the operational needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

“Such decisions make it possible to quickly strengthen the capabilities of the Defense Forces where it is needed most,” he added.

The latest ammunition package comes amid continued defense cooperation between Kyiv and Copenhagen, which has recently expanded into broader military initiatives. On June 19, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting in Brussels with Danish Defense Minister Jepppe Bruus during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

During the talks, Fedorov expressed gratitude for Denmark’s ongoing military support to Ukraine and briefed the Danish side on the battlefield situation, noting that Ukraine is “seizing the initiative and acting in line with its own defense strategy.”

According to the ministry, the discussions focused on Ukraine’s medium- and long-range strike capabilities, with Kyiv also welcoming Denmark’s investments in extended-range ammunition supplies.

“Denmark is also preparing a new aid package under the ‘Danish model.’ Ukraine expects its rapid approval in sufficient volumes in order to use the current window of opportunity on the battlefield,” the ministry said.

The two sides also addressed broader defense cooperation, including industrial collaboration, the development of anti-ballistic systems, and joint work within the Drone Deal initiative. Denmark, in addition, will continue to support training centers for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel.

In February, Denmark has also announced an additional $541 million in military aid for Ukraine in 2026, with the package partially financed through the sale of F-16 fighter jets, according to the Danish Ministry of Defense.

With the latest allocation, Denmark’s total military support for Ukraine in 2026 is projected to reach $1.99 billion.
