Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles struck the Titan-Barrikady defense plant in Volgograd, Russia, on June 27, targeting one of the country’s key manufacturers of missile launch systems and artillery equipment.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike, saying the attack caused a fire at the facility. In a statement published on X, Zelenskyy said the strikes caused a fire at the plant and praised Ukraine’s Defense Forces for carrying out the operation.

“Last night, FP-5 Flamingo missiles successfully struck the Titan-Barrikady facility in Volgograd. It is a major industrial complex where the enemy produces artillery systems and specialized military equipment, including components for missile launch systems used in attacks against our people. Confirmed strikes were followed by a fire on the plant’s premises.”

Zelenskyy added that “every Russian defense facility that serves the war against Ukraine is a just target for our long-range sanctions,” referring to Ukraine’s campaign of deep strikes against Russia’s military-industrial infrastructure.

According to Russian regional authorities, the overnight attack damaged production facilities at an industrial enterprise in Volgograd and injured 10 people, although officials did not identify the facility.

Titan-Barrikady is one of Russia’s key defense manufacturers and is part of the state-owned Roscosmos corporation. The enterprise develops and produces transporter-erector-launchers and support equipment for Russia’s strategic missile systems, including Yars, Topol-M, Oreshnik, and Iskander-M.

The plant also manufactures large-caliber artillery barrels, including 152 mm barrels for the Msta-B and Msta-S artillery systems.

The facility has been under sanctions imposed by the US, the European Union, Japan, and several other countries because of its role in supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex.

The FP-5 Flamingo is a Ukrainian long-range cruise missile developed by Fire Point. Publicly unveiled in 2025, it is designed to strike high-value military targets deep inside Russia. According to the manufacturer, the missile has a maximum range of up to 3,000 kilometers and can carry a warhead weighing about one metric ton.

The strike comes amid a 40-day strategic operation approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine to increase pressure on Russia to end its war. The campaign focuses on sustained long-range strikes against military, defense-industrial, logistics, and energy infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort.
