Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Hit 2,379 Russian Targets in One Day, Including Aircraft and Drone Launch Sites

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck or destroyed 2,379 Russian targets over the past 24 hours, including personnel, drone launch sites, electronic warfare systems, and aircraft, the force reported.
According to the USF, its units struck 437 Russian personnel during the reporting period, with 193 reported killed.

The strikes also targeted 51 drone launch sites and 26 radar, electronic intelligence, electronic warfare, and communications systems. Ukrainian drone units also hit 191 vehicles and 13 artillery systems.
A significant share of the targets were Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. The USF reported striking or destroying 379 drones, including copter- and fixed-wing-type UAVs, as well as Shahed and Gerbera drones.
Two Russian aircraft or helicopters were also among the targets hit during the day, according to the statement. The USF did not specify the types of aircraft involved or the extent of the damage.
The latest figures add to a broader campaign by Ukraine’s drone forces targeting Russian personnel and military equipment. Between September 1 and 9, USF units reported striking a total of 18,580 Russian targets, including 3,726 personnel.
The campaign comes amid continued Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian civilians, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that Moscow must face consequences for its strikes.
Kyiv came under a Russian drone attack on September 9, when a drone struck a residential high-rise, injuring six people, including a pregnant woman.
Fragments of Shahed drones and shattered glass were scattered around the residential buildings following the attack. A response headquarters was subsequently established at the site to assist residents.
“Moscow must not enter the winter believing that its missile and drone terror will simply go unpunished. Aggression must be stopped here and now so that it does not spread further. It is important that sanctions and support for Ukraine work effectively toward precisely this goal,” Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine has also increasingly used long-range drones to target high-value Russian military assets far from the frontline. In separate operations over a six-week period, Ukrainian forces damaged two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers at the Engels-2 airbase in Russia’s Saratov region, targeting aircraft that Russia is no longer able to produce.
The Telegraph reported on September 9 that both operations were carried out by a specialized long-range unit of Ukraine’s Security Service. Satellite imagery shows that one Tu-95 lost its tail section in a July 19 strike, while another sustained significant damage to its right wing in a second attack on August 28.
