Vučić Announces Zelenskyy’s First-Ever Presidential Visit to Serbia

Officials in Belgrade announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to Serbia for an official visit on August 8.
The press office of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić issued a statement on August 6 confirming that Vučić will host Zelenskyy during this visit, though further details were not disclosed, according to Serbian Service of Radio Svoboda.

The upcoming visit, which had been under discussion for a prolonged period, will mark Zelenskyy's first trip to Serbia since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, as well as the first visit of his entire presidency.
In July, Aleksandar Vučić visited Kyiv alongside other regional leaders to attend the "Southeast Europe – Ukraine" summit. At the time, Vučić stated that he was "not fully" satisfied with the level of aid Serbia had provided to Ukraine, according to European Pravda.
However, he again declined to sign the summit's joint declaration on continuing political, military, financial, and security support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.
In the months preceding this upcoming meeting, several high-ranking Ukrainian officials visited Serbia. These included then-Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.
In June 2025, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited Ukraine for the first time since Russia’s full-scale invasion to attend the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit in Odesa.
During the event, Vučić reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity under the U.N. Charter and offered concrete support for the country’s post-war recovery, proposing that Belgrade assist in rebuilding one or two Ukrainian towns or a small region.
