Ukrainian defense company Skyeton has developed the Stormbird unmanned aerial system (UAS), a new strike platform designed for precision missions and already being used by Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the company told Militarnyi on October 7

Stormbird is based on the architecture of Skyeton’s Raybird (ACS-3) reconnaissance system but features expanded payload integration capabilities, allowing it to perform a broader range of missions. According to the company, the system was codified by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense in early 2026.

The new platform builds on experience gained from more than 350,000 hours of combat operations with Raybird reconnaissance drones. Stormbird retains the Raybird’s endurance, reliability, and resistance to electronic warfare while adding strike capabilities.

Skyeton has developed several payload options for the system, including the Remora glide munition and the Quadremora FPV-type loitering munition. Stormbird can also carry a communications relay designed to maintain connectivity beyond the coverage of ground-based infrastructure.

“With Stormbird, we have taken a step beyond reconnaissance. This UAS combines Raybird’s endurance and low observability with the precision and versatility required for modern strike missions,” Skyeton CEO Roman Kniazhenko said.

“Our vision is to create a comprehensive ecosystem of small fixed-wing UAS capable of performing reconnaissance, detection, and target identification missions, and now also delivering precision strikes in environments where manned aircraft or even larger UAVs cannot operate,” he added.

According to Militarnyi, Stormbird was designed with the low-observability and survivability requirements of modern unmanned systems in mind. Its compact airframe is intended to reduce its radar signature, while a high degree of autonomy allows the system to conduct precision strikes in rapidly changing combat conditions.

The Stormbird is the latest Ukrainian-developed unmanned system to receive approval for military use. On October 5, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense reported that it had cleared the domestically produced Varkhan unmanned ground vehicle for operational use by the Armed Forces.

Designed primarily for battlefield logistics, the Varkhan can transport weapons, ammunition, equipment, and other supplies. The system was developed by a Ukrainian defense manufacturer in response to operational requirements identified by the military.
