Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský responded on May 29 to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s concerns about NATO’s eastward expansion, arguing that the alliance’s enlargement actually benefits Russia’s security.
“NATO expansion is in Russia’s security interest. Where Russia borders NATO countries, there is no war. Where it doesn’t, there is,” Lipavský wrote on X.
His comment followed recent remarks by Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, who described Putin’s concerns over NATO expansion as “fair.”
Rozšiřování NATO je v zájmu ruské bezpečnosti. Tam, kde Rusko hraničí se státy NATO se neválčí. Jinde ano.

On May 29, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that Finland would likely not have joined NATO if Russia had not invaded Ukraine, calling the move by Putin one of the biggest strategic and tactical mistakes in modern military history.
