Daily Update: Russia Loses 960 Troops, 4 Tanks and 5 Air Defense Systems in One Day

Russia’s invading forces lost 960 personnel, four tanks, and five air defense systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on March 2.

According to the latest figures, Russia’s total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, are estimated at:

  • Personnel: about 1,267,730 (+960);

  • Tanks: 11,713 (+4);

  • Armored combat vehicles: 24,111 (+3);

  • Artillery systems: 37,795 (+74);

  • Multiple launch rocket systems: 1,665 (+3);

  • Air defense systems: 1,313 (+5);

  • Aircraft: 435 (no change);

  • Helicopters: 348 (no change);

  • Operational-tactical UAVs: 153,169 (+1,810);

  • Cruise missiles: 4,384 (no change);

  • Warships/boats: 29 (no change);

  • Submarines: 2 (no change);

  • Vehicles and fuel tankers: 80,757 (+247);

  • Special equipment: 4,076 (+1).

The General Staff also reported 145 combat engagements along the front line during the past day.

The heaviest fighting took place in the Huliaipole direction, where Ukrainian forces recorded 34 Russian attacks, followed by the Pokrovsk sector with 22 assaults.

Operational data released as of 8:00 a.m. on March 2 indicates that Russian forces carried out one missile strike, launching a single missile, along with 86 airstrikes that involved the release of 285 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Russian troops deployed 8,828 suicide drones and conducted 3,573 attacks against Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 46 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems, according to the Ukrainian military.

Earlier, Ukrainian special forces from the Defense Intelligence Directorate’s “Artan” unit, working alongside other formations of Ukraine’s Armored Forces, regained control of several frontline positions near the settlement of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region.
