An overnight Ukrainian drone attack temporarily disrupted power and heating in the Russian city of Voronezh, the regional governor said, according to Reuters on November 9.
Governor Alexander Gusev reported that several drones were suppressed by electronic warfare, sparking a fire at a utility facility that was quickly extinguished; he said there were no injuries and that central heating temperatures and electricity supplies later returned to normal.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s daily update did not mention drones over the Voronezh region, though it said air defenses destroyed or intercepted 44 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 43 over Bryansk and one over Rostov. These claims cannot be independently verified.
OSINT group ASTRA said geolocated footage published by the Ukrainian project Exilenova+ shows the moment of the strike filmed from the Aviastroiteley Embankment, about 1.3 km from Voronezh TPP-1.
“Several unmanned aerial vehicles were suppressed… a fire at one of the utility facilities was quickly put out,” Gusev wrote on Telegram, according to ASTRA, which added that local authorities had not officially confirmed an attack on the plant.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, reported only two overnight incidents: the Voronezh CHP plant and a power substation in the Taganrog area.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian drones struck a key railway hub in the Voronezh region, disrupting Russian troop supplies.
