Drones reportedly attacked the “Kapustin Yar” Strategic Missile Forces training area (military unit 15644) from which Russia launched a new ballistic missile at Dnipro, Ukraine.

The UAVs targeted Kapustin Yar in Znamensk, Astrakhan region, Russia, on the morning of November 21, stated the Russian media ASTRA.

According to the agency sources, at least two UAVs were not intercepted and struck the training area’s 105th site. The consequences of the attack remain unclear, but the regional governor reported a fire on the day of the incident.

“This morning, the Ukrainian regime once again attempted to attack our northern districts. All services responded as planned. Some UAVs were suppressed and neutralized by electronic warfare, and others were shot down by air defense systems, which residents likely heard,” the governor said.

He claimed that a fire broke out after one of the downed drones crashed but was promptly extinguished by the emergency services. The governor reported no casualties among residents or damage to civilian infrastructure.

On November 21, Ukrainian Air Forces reported that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on the city of Dnipro, Ukraine, for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion.

Later that day, Putin confirmed that Russia had launched its latest ballistic hypersonic missile “Oreshnik” at Ukraine.

On November 21, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated that the intermediate-range ballistic missile “Oreshnik” is based on the RS-26 “Rubezh” intercontinental ballistic missile.

On November 22, Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Directorate provided new details about the ballistic missile used by Russia in the November 21 strike on Dnipro. The missile was likely launched from the Russian "Kedr" missile system from the Astrakhan region and hit its target in Dnipro just 15 minutes after launch.
