Reports indicate that drones targeted an oil depot in the Tula region of Russia overnight on January 18.
The target, identified as the ‘8 Marta’ oil depot managed by Rosrezerv, contains 58 storage tanks for petroleum products. It is located near the town of Uzlova, approximately 230 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, at coordinates 54.027450, 38.050564. The facility is believed to play a role in supporting Russia’s military operations.
Local residents reported hearing a series of explosions, estimated at around ten, accompanied by unusual sounds in the sky. Sources in Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) confirmed the operation, adding that the strikes caused significant damage, including a large-scale fire at the site.
Social media posts have circulated images and videos showing the aftermath of the strikes, which reportedly led to extensive fire damage.
Earlier, on January 17, drones targeted the Lyudinovo oil depot in Russia’s Kaluga region, operated by Kaluganefteprodukt. According to Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha, the attack caused a fire at the facility.
