Drones Torch Major Russian Oil Depot in Oryol Region, Massive Fire Caught on Video

Strike drones hit the Orelnefteprodukt oil depot in the Russian city of Livny overnight, igniting a large fire at the facility, Russian outlet Astra reported on December 2.
Residents posted videos showing flames rising from the site. According to locals, at least two storage tanks appear to have caught fire. Regional officials later confirmed the attack.

“In the night, the Oryol region once again came under attack by UAVs, resulting in a fire at fuel-and-energy infrastructure facilities in the Livny district,” regional governor Andrei Klychkov said.
Authorities said no injuries were reported. Emergency crews from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations were deployed to contain the blaze and assess the damage.

The Orelnefteprodukt depot, located in Livny, is a major fuel storage and distribution hub for the region. It was previously struck by drones on January 24, 2025.
Despite the visible fire damage, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed its air defenses “shot down one Ukrainian drone” over the Oryol region overnight.

Earlier, a fire broke out at the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
The Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported that a fire erupted on refinery grounds after what appeared to be a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) attack. The refinery is one of the largest fuel processing sites in southern Russia and plays a key role in regional fuel supply.
