Russia’s Ryazan Mega-Refinery Rocked by Explosions in Latest Long-Range Drone Strike, Video

Drones struck the Ryazan oil refinery—one of Russia’s largest—according to the OSINT channel Exilenova+ and Russian outlet Astra on November 20.
Residents began reporting a series of explosions across the city and surrounding region shortly after 2 am, describing what appeared to be a new strike on the refinery complex.

Local witnesses said a fire broke out on refinery grounds following the detonations. Videos circulating online captured flashes and rising smoke, consistent with an impact on industrial infrastructure.
The governor of Ryazan region later confirmed that drones had been shot down over the area but avoided naming the facility directly.

He claimed the fire was caused by “falling debris” from intercepted UAVs and said, “According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Damage is being assessed. Emergency services are working at the scene. Debris fell in several districts of Ryazan.”
The Ryazan refinery has become a recurring target for long-range strikes. It was reportedly hit on November 15.
Located roughly 470 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, the Rosneft-owned refinery processed about 13.1 million tons of crude in 2024—roughly 262,000 barrels per day, or around 5% of Russia’s entire refining output.

The plant includes four primary crude-distillation units, as well as major complexes for hydrocracking, vacuum gasoil hydrotreating, catalytic reforming, LPG production and sulfuric acid processing.
Ryazan is also a key supplier of motor fuel for regions surrounding Moscow, making repeated strikes on the facility strategically significant.
Earlier, a major power station in Russia’s Ryazan region was hit by a wave of explosive-laden drones.
