First Polish Evacuation Flight From Israel Arrives in Warsaw With Ukrainians on Board

Poland has begun evacuating civilians from Israel as tensions in the Middle East escalate, with Ukrainian nationals included in the operation.
The first evacuation flight, carrying 160 passengers—mostly Polish citizens along with several Ukrainians and other foreign nationals—arrived in Warsaw from Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The mission was confirmed by Deputy Foreign Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys during a press briefing on June 18, Ukrinform reported on June 18.
“There were several Ukrainian citizens on today’s flight,” Mościcka-Dendys stated.
Poland has allocated two aircraft for evacuation operations, with flights departing from Egypt and Jordan. A second flight is scheduled for June 20, when a Polish military aircraft will evacuate 65 more citizens from Amman.

In a comment to a Ukrinform corerspondent on June 17 Foreign Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to supporting Ukrainian citizens amid the ongoing crisis.
“Of course. Ukraine once assisted us during the 2024 evacuation from Lebanon, and Poland will do the same for Ukrainian citizens in times of crisis,” he said.
Wroński added that in the event of further escalation, Ukrainians can count on Poland’s continued assistance.
Earlier, amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has issued a strong call for all Ukrainian citizens to leave Israel and Iran immediately and remain abroad until the security situation stabilizes.
