Germany to Transfer Third Patriot System, IRIS-T, and Gepard Installations to Ukraine

Germany is set to transfer a third Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, along with IRIS-T and Gepard installations, as well as missiles and ammunition, in the coming weeks and months. Chancellor Olaf Scholz made this announcement during the opening ceremony of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin.

Scholz appealed to the international community to support Germany’s initiative to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, stating, “Everyone who can, should contribute.”

He also emphasized that the best reconstruction of Ukraine is the one that does not have to be realized.

Germany stands as one of the European leaders in providing military assistance to Ukraine. The Federal Republic of Germany has already transferred various modifications of Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, IRIS-T and Patriot air defense systems, MARS II MLRS, Marder IFVs, and Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems to the Ukrainian military, along with a significant amount of armored and automotive equipment, among other contributions.
