Latvia Sends 1,500 Combat Drones to Ukraine Under International Drone Coalition

Latvia has delivered a new batch of 1,500 combat drones to Ukraine as part of its contribution to the international drone coalition, Latvian Minister of Defense Andris Spruds announced.
In a statement published on the social media platform X on May 27, Minister Spruds noted that the drones are part of a broader initiative involving the production of 12,000 unmanned aerial systems by two Latvian companies during the first half of 2025.
“An additional 1,500 combat drones are on their way from Latvia to Ukraine. Within the framework of the international drone coalition,” Spruds stated.

He further confirmed that funding for the procurement and delivery is provided through the coalition's joint financing mechanism, to which Latvia has contributed €5 million.
A previous consignment of 1,500 drones was delivered to Ukraine as part of the International Drone Coalition, a multinational initiative co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom.
Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Forces started actively operating BEAK bomber drones, developed by the Latvian company Origin Robotics.
Origin Robotics CEO Agris Kipurs highlighted the drone’s performance in Ukraine, emphasizing its precision, cost-effectiveness, and resilience against Russian electronic warfare systems.
