A new Dutch Defense Cluster (DDC) has officially opened in Ukraine, marking a major step in deepening cooperation between the Netherlands and Ukraine in the defense technology sector.

The initiative was launched by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans on October 11, who personally inaugurated the cluster during his visit to Ukraine. He emphasized that the project holds strategic importance for both countries.

According to the DDC, the initiative is designed to support Dutch defense companies operating in Ukraine by offering on-ground expertise, facilitating strategic partnerships, and providing operational support in a rapidly evolving environment.

With more than 260 defense companies in the Netherlands and growing interest in the Ukrainian market, the DDC is seen as a vital bridge connecting Dutch technological innovation with Ukraine’s operational needs—all while contributing to Europe's collective security and defense resilience.

The cluster will also provide access to funding opportunities, regulatory guidance, and scalable partnerships aimed at strengthening the impact of Dutch companies in one of the world’s most dynamic defense markets.

“We also support Ukrainian companies with access to theDutch Defense industry and are not limited to Dutch companies in Ukraine,” the company added.

Earlier, the Royal Netherlands Air Force achieved its first confirmed combat kill with an F-35A fighter jet, successfully downing a Russian drone.
