New Ukrainian Film “Komunalnyky” Honors Civil Resistance in Occupied Ukraine

The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine have released a new short film titled Komunalnyky (Utility Workers), highlighting the crucial role of the Resistance Movement in territories under Russian occupation, the SOF of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on March 26.
The film follows utility workers in Melitopol who use their professional access to monitor enemy movements and install surveillance equipment. This intelligence serves as the foundation for middle strike drone operations, allowing Ukrainian forces to conduct precision attacks on high-value military targets deep behind the front lines.

SOF stated that in March 2026, this collaboration between the underground and special forces led to several major successes. On March 14, Ukrainian forces struck Russian Iskander missile systems that were preparing for launches against Ukrainian cities. Other operations during the month included the destruction of a Rubikon unit in Donetsk, the neutralizing of S-400 radar systems in Sevastopol, and hits on enemy arsenals in the Donbas.
These actions coincide with new legislation passed by the Ukrainian parliament, Bill 13347, which clarifies the legal definition of national resistance and expands the powers of the Special Operations Forces command to organize such movements.

The SOF emphasizes that the resistance is not limited to military personnel but includes any citizen over the age of 18 willing to assist. Potential recruits are encouraged to join through official channels such as the official website of the movement. As the film description notes, the presence of the resistance ensures that every Russian soldier on Ukrainian soil remains within the sights of the Ukrainian military.
The recent disruption of Russian military logistics near Simferopol provides a concrete example of the resistance activities depicted in the film Komunalnyky. By disabling a critical diesel locomotive, Ukrainian partisans from Atesh group effectively stalled a shipment of ammunition and maintenance supplies destined for the Zaporizhzhia front in Southern Ukraine.
This act of sabotage demonstrates how the underground works in tandem with the military to degrade enemy operational capabilities, complementing the targeted strikes on Rubikon units and S-400 radar systems that defined the resistance-led successes across occupied territories in March 2026.
