North Korean Troops Face High Losses and Low Effectiveness in Kursk Region, Pentagon Confirms
North Korean soldiers deployed in Russia's Kursk region are sustaining significant losses, with their battlefield effectiveness reported to be low.
This was stated by Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary, Sabrina Singh, during a briefing on December 30.
Singh emphasized that the attacks launched by North Korean soldiers in the region have shown limited effectiveness, with the troops sustaining a "significant amount" of casualties.
She noted that the Department of Defense agrees with the White House's recent assessment regarding the number of North Korean casualties sustained in battles against Ukraine in Russia's Kursk region.
"The White House recently announced that approximately 1,000 [North Korean] soldiers have either been killed or wounded in the Kursk region. That's our assessment as well," Singh said.
Previously, on December 27, White House spokesperson John Kirby reported that North Korean forces in Russia's Kursk region had suffered 1,000 casualties, including both killed and wounded, within the past week alone, according to US estimates, as cited by Reuters.
On December 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that North Korean troops deployed to aid Russian forces in the Kursk region suffered over 3,000 casualties, including both killed and wounded.
