The Norwegian government has decided to allocate an additional 570 million Norwegian kroner (€48.28 million) to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) for the purchase of drones and air defense systems.

This was announced by the Norwegian government.

Norway's contribution, made in collaboration with the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, will help protect the Ukrainian population and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

"Ukraine urgently needs more military equipment to defend itself against Russian aggression. Together with other countries, Norway will do everything possible to contribute," commented Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

The International Fund for Ukraine is an additional funding mechanism for support to Ukraine, led by the UK's Ministry of Defense, and includes Australia, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden.

Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure in recent weeks. On September 3, Russia’s missile strike on a Poltava educational institution has resulted in at least 53 deaths and 298 injuries, with ongoing rescue efforts still underway. Overnight on September 4, Russia’s missile strike on Lviv has resulted in at least 7 deaths and 47 injuries, including 3 children, and a strike on Kryvyi Rih injured 5 people, destroying 4 schools and a hotel.
