Only Two Survive Out of 25: Ukrainian HUR Intercepts Russian Call on “Meat Assault” Losses

Ukrainian military intelligence has released an intercepted phone call in which a relative of a Russian soldier described heavy losses during one of Russia’s assault operations in Ukraine. Intercepted call revealed that only two servicemen survived out of a group of 25.
According to Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense (HUR) obtained the call on September 15. In the conversation, a woman identified her relative, named Dima, as one of the survivors.
“Dima is in the hospital. His leg has three holes. And there’s a fragment in his neck… Well, out of 25 of them, two remained alive,” she said.
HUR reported that the rest of the unit was eliminated. The agency emphasized that Russian forces continue to employ so-called “meat assaults,” where soldiers are sent into direct attacks with little chance of survival.
Earlier, Ukrainian special forces from the Main Directorate of Intelligence and Special Operations Forces carried out sabotage on Russian railways in Oryol and Leningrad regions.
Explosions halted the Orel–Kursk line, leaving more than 15 trains delayed, while separate attacks in Leningrad region derailed locomotives and destroyed up to 15 fuel tankers.
The targeted routes are key logistics links for supplying Russian troops on the Kharkiv and Sumy fronts, and their disruption will complicate Russia’s ability to sustain operations.
