On October 28, a pair of on-duty MiG-29 fighters from the Polish Air Force successfully performed an interception over the Baltic Sea. The operation involved identifying and escorting a Russian Federation aircraft that was conducting a flight in the area.

This was reported by Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces via X on October 29.

The Polish fighters successfully intercepted a Russian Il-20 aircraft. The Russian plane was carrying out a reconnaissance mission in international airspace while operating without a filed flight plan and with its transponder deactivated.

Following the interception, the MiG-29 pilots visually identified the Il-20 and successfully escorted the aircraft out of the Polish area of responsibility. Authorities confirmed that the Russian aircraft did not violate Polish airspace.

“Thanks to the high combat readiness, professionalism of the pilots, and the efficient functioning of the air defense system, the operation was carried out quickly, effectively, and safely,” the statement read.

In a related development, it was reported that Russian drones which entered Polish airspace on September 10 were equipped with advanced Iranian-made anti-jamming GNSS antennas.

Photos published by the outlet showed a “Herbera” drone fitted with a Tallysman four-channel Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA).

CRPA technology is a crucial defense against electronic warfare because it helps the drone resist signal interference. It functions by detecting the direction of incoming jamming signals and then filtering out those false signals, thereby maintaining reliable navigation.

Earlier, United States President Donald Trump promised support for Poland and the Baltic states should Russia increase its aggression.
