Post-War Security for Ukraine: 800,000 Troops and Allied Support Envisioned

The United States and European countries have finalized a comprehensive post-war security framework aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s long-term defense and regional stability, Bloomberg reported on December 18.
Central to the plan is the establishment of a 800,000-strong Ukrainian army, envisioned as the primary force for deterring future aggression. In addition to bolstering Ukraine’s military capacity, the United States will play a key role by providing real-time intelligence and surveillance to monitor any breaches of a future peace agreement along the line of contact.

As part of the strategy, a group of partner nations—referred to as the Coalition of the Willing—will deploy troops at a distance from the front lines. This positioning is intended to build trust and demonstrate ongoing international commitment.
These forces will be permitted to operate within Ukraine under the agreed security framework.

Bloomberg noted that, should hostilities resume, the plan envisions a swift diplomatic response from the allies. If those efforts prove unsuccessful, military support may then be considered as a follow-up measure.
Earlier, it was reported the Kremlin confirmed on Thursday that it is preparing to establish contacts with the United States to obtain details about recent US discussions with European and Ukrainian officials regarding a potential peace settlement for the war in Ukraine.
