Pulled From the Rubble—Kyiv Man Rescued After 3-Hour Operation Following Russian Attack

Rescuers in Kyiv have successfully freed a man trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed apartment block entrance following a complex three-hour operation. The man became stuck as a result of the overnight attack on the capital on July 31.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) on July 31.
According to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, six people have been confirmed dead following the strike on this building in the Sviatoshynskyi district.

According to SES, the man fell from the second floor to the first and became pinned under debris. Throughout the ordeal, emergency crews maintained voice contact with the victim.


“It was difficult to reach the victim: rescuers broke through a wall in a neighboring apartment and created a kind of tunnel. Special stabilizers were applied to the man to avoid causing further harm during the rescue,” the SES noted.
Search and rescue operations remain ongoing at two locations in Kyiv, with emergency response teams continuing work at six additional sites. Authorities have deployed maximum equipment and personnel to the impacted areas to assist in saving lives.
Earlier, it was reported that at least eight people, including a six-year-old boy, were killed and the number of injured rose to 88 following a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Thursday.
