In April, the Russian Federation significantly increased its use of guided aerial bombs (GABs) against Ukrainian territory, targeting both Defense Forces positions and civilian-populated areas along the frontline.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, more than 5,000 GABs were deployed over the course of the month, exceeding the 4,800 recorded in March. Of these, over 1,200 bombs were directed specifically at Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region, making it one of the most heavily affected areas.
“Russian aviation dropped more than 5,000 guided aerial bombs on the positions of Defense Forces units and frontline settlements. A quarter of them, over 1,200, the enemy used against the positions of our troops in the Kursk region,” the report states.

Since the beginning of 2025, Russian forces have launched over 15,000 guided aerial bombs on Ukraine. For comparison, throughout all of 2024, approximately 40,000 such munitions were used.
Earlier, Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, who accused Kyiv of repeatedly violating a temporary agreement to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure, called Ukraine ceasefire “unrealistic”.
