Russia “only strikes military targets” — including during the recent attack on Kryvyi Rih — Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claimed in a statement on April 7, as reported by Russian media.
When asked by journalists whether Russian intelligence may have erred in its targeting during the April 4 missile strike on Kryvyi Rih — which killed 20 people, including nine children — Peskov dismissed the possibility, urging reporters to trust only the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“I suggest relying entirely on the official statement of our Defense Ministry,” Peskov said. “Our military strikes exclusively at military or military-adjacent targets. No attacks on civilian infrastructure were carried out.”
On April 4, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile at a residential neighborhood in Kryvyi Rih, killing 20 people, including nine children, and injuring 74 others. Later that night, the city was hit by drone strikes, resulting in one more death and seven additional injuries. As of April 7, 33 people remain hospitalized, 18 of them in serious condition.
Following the missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, Russia claimed the target was a meeting of Ukrainian military officials and said the missile was armed with a high-explosive warhead.
France24 has published surveillance footage showing the moment of the missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, captured from three different angles inside the targeted restaurant. At the time, only a few guests and waitstaff were inside. Outside stood the restaurant’s owner, Valeriia, and her friend, Liliia.
Just 20 minutes before the strike, the restaurant had hosted the closing of the Golden Snitch beauty forum.
Previously, US President Donald Trump has revealed that Washington is in communication with the Kremlin to end Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Trump stated, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on April 6.
