Russia Tried to Hide 2S9 Nona-S Artillery System in a House—Ukrainian FPVs Found It First, Video

Ukrainian forces have destroyed a Russian airborne self-propelled artillery system, the 2S9 Nona-S, which had been concealed inside a non-residential building in a private neighborhood in western Pokrovsk.
Footage of the strike was published by the 7th Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces on February 8.

According to available information, Russian troops intended to use the artillery piece to support further assault operations toward the settlement of Hryshyne, led by elements of Russia’s 76th Air Assault Division.
“After detecting the enemy self-propelled gun, unmanned systems units of the Defense Forces deployed FPV drones against the Nona-S. The drones precisely maneuvered into the abandoned structure and destroyed the vehicle with several strikes, targeting its most vulnerable points,” the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces said.
The 2S9 Nona is a Soviet-designed, air-droppable 120 mm self-propelled mortar that entered service in 1981. Built on the aluminum-hulled chassis of the BTR-D airborne tracked armored personnel carrier, the system—formally designated 2S9 Nona-S—is believed to have been produced in numbers exceeding 1,000 units, though exact figures remain undisclosed.
Earlier, Ukrainian drone operators from the Signum Battalion of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade reported the destruction of a Russian Nona self-propelled artillery system and successful strikes against a multiple-launch rocket system and a tank during fighting on the Lyman axis.
