Overnight, Russian forces attacked Odesa using a new version of the Harpiya-A1 strike drone equipped with enhanced protection against electronic warfare systems.

This was reported by an analyst from the Telegram channel “Polkovnyk HSh” on Fevruary 13, who examined the drone’s debris after the strike. According to the analyst, the new modification bears the “KK” series marking, which was found on fragments of the drones used in the attack on the Ukrainian city.

The Harpiya-A1 is a Russian-produced version of the Shahed-type strike drone, manufactured by the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant “Kupol.” The latest series is fitted with a 16-element CRPA antenna, Kometa-M16, designed to maintain satellite navigation under conditions of active electronic interference, as reported by Militarnyi on February 13. The previous “KC” series was equipped with the Kometa-M12 antenna.

A CRPA antenna is a specialized navigation system capable of ensuring precise positioning even in environments saturated with radio interference. The Kometa receiver is designed to protect navigation signals from intentional and unintentional jamming and to stabilize satellite navigation signals.

According to Militarnyi, such antennas can detect false electronic signals and filter them out, reducing the effectiveness of electronic warfare systems aimed at disrupting the drone’s navigation. The designations M12 and M16 refer to the number of antenna channels, which increase resistance to electronic countermeasures.

Russian forces launched another overnight drone attack on Odesa on February 12, striking civilian sites and residential areas, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, who reported the details on Telegram the same day.

Lysak said one of the drones hit a high-rise apartment building, damaging an upper-floor flat but not triggering a fire. In another part of the city, outbuildings at a recreational complex caught fire, while a separate commercial property was also set ablaze.

At the time of his update, authorities were still verifying information about potential casualties, and the air raid alert in the region remained active.

Odesa, a strategically important Black Sea port, has repeatedly come under Russian drone and missile strikes since the start of the full-scale invasion. On February 9, officials described a “massive” drone attack that killed one person and damaged residential infrastructure, while earlier, on January 28, drone strikes targeted port facilities and left two people dead in the broader Odesa region.

Earlier, Russian forces deliberately struck a residential house in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, killing three brothers and wounding their mother and grandmother.
