Russian Forces Use Guided Shaheds to Hunt Ukrainian Mobile Fire Groups

Russian forces have begun using guided Shahed drones to target Ukrainian mobile fire groups while they are engaged in intercepting aerial threats.
This was reported by Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Federov, on April 13.

In a message published on Telegram, Beskrestnov said that such tactics had already resulted in casualties.
“Unfortunately, we have another strike by a guided ‘Shahed’ on a mobile fire group crew. The unit was working on one ‘Shahed,’ while another was simultaneously hunting the crew,” he said.
Beskrestnov noted that mobile fire groups operate across multiple branches of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and play a key role in countering drone attacks. He urged units to adapt to the evolving threat and take additional precautions.

He also urged that all crews be informed about the new threat and properly briefed on it, emphasizing that they should be prepared both mentally and physically, and should plan ahead for camouflage and clear courses of action.
“Vehicles are just metal—our value is people,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue to target Russian firepower along the front line. According to Defense Express on April 12, Ukrainian drone operators destroyed a rare Russian 2A36 Giatsint-B towed 152 mm artillery gun near Novopavlivka.

The outlet reported that operators from the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade located and struck the system on the Novopavlivka axis, with the target identified by the brigade’s Combat Hawks drone unit. The strike eliminated a long-range Russian fire-support asset from the battlefield.
In a statement accompanying the footage, the brigade said it continues to systematically destroy enemy resources in order to reduce Russia’s offensive capabilities.
Defense Express noted that the Giatsint-B is relatively uncommon compared to other Soviet-designed artillery systems and is capable of firing rocket-assisted projectiles at distances of up to 40 kilometers.
