Russian Molniya Drone Hits Residential Area in Kharkiv, 11 Injured, Including Infant

On the night of August 1, Russia launched a drone strike on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, injuring at least 11 people, including several children, according to local officials.
Kharkiv region Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that among the injured are a 5-month-old infant, a 9-year-old, and a 10-year-old boy. Five of the victims were hospitalized for further treatment.
The attack struck near a residential building in the city’s Kyivskyi district. “A hostile Molniya-type UAV hit near a multi-story apartment building,” said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

“Another victim sought medical help after the strike by an enemy UAV in Kharkiv,” Syniehubov said in an update. “As of now, the number of injured in the Kyivskyi district has reached 11.”
Kharkiv, located less than 30 kilometers from the Russian border, has been a frequent target of drone and missile attacks since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Editor’s note: This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia launched more drones on Ukraine in July 2025 than during nearly the entire previous year, signaling a continued escalation in aerial operations.
