On the morning of August 9, Russian forces launched multiple strikes across Ukraine, resulting in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage, according to regional authorities.

In Dnipro, a missile strike injured three people — a 41-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 29 — who were hospitalized in moderate condition.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, reported damage to an industrial facility, several civilian vehicles, and a non-operational building where a fire was later extinguished by emergency services.

The Air Force had earlier detected a high-speed target moving toward the city shortly before the explosion.

In Zaporizhzhia region, an FPV drone struck a car in Bilenkivska community, Zaporizhzhia district, igniting the vehicle and killing both occupants, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said.

Near Kherson, a drone attack targeted a passenger minibus in the city’s outskirts, killing two people and injuring 16 others.

According to the Kherson City Military Administration, two of the injured remain in serious condition. The victims include elderly passengers and individuals with blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, and contusions.

The strikes followed a night of combined drone and missile attacks across multiple regions. The Air Force reported that from 22:30 on August 8, Russian forces launched 47 Shahed-type drones and imitation UAVs from the Kursk, Millerovo, and Shatalovo directions, as well as two Iskander-K cruise missiles from occupied Zaporizhzhia region.

Air defense units intercepted or suppressed one missile and 16 drones, but confirmed 31 UAV impacts across 15 locations.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened criminal proceedings in connection with the Kherson bus attack under war crimes charges. Authorities continue documenting the aftermath of the strikes.

Earlier, on August 8, as US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to the Kremlin expired, Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight attack using 104 Shahed and decoy drones, along with eight jet-powered UAVs, from five directions.

Strikes hit multiple regions, injuring at least six civilians in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy, and damaging homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Ukrainian defenses downed or disabled 82 drones, but 26 still reached targets.
