Russian Drone Strike Hits Ukrainian Postal Van Near Front Line, Killing Worker, Injuring Driver

Russian forces have killed a Ukrainian postal worker in another targeted attack on civilian infrastructure, hitting a Ukrposhta vehicle near Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, killing the head of a mobile post office and injuring the driver, according to the Ukrposhta CEO, Ihor Smilianskyi, on August 7.
The victim, Olha Bordunova, was 47 years old and would have celebrated her birthday on August 10.

According to Smilianskyi, the vehicle was struck by a Russian drone. “Our colleague Olha Bordunova, head of the mobile branch, was killed near Kramatorsk as a result of an enemy strike,” he wrote. “Our driver, Pavlo, was injured, but he is already doing better and receiving all necessary medical assistance.”
Smilianskyi thanked the Ukrainian Armed Forces, particularly the 56th Brigade, for their efforts to save both victims. “They did everything possible to save Pavlo and fought to the last to help Olha,” he said. “This is yet more proof of the enemy’s war crimes – deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure.”
Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s national postal service, continues to operate along the front line despite constant Russian attacks.
“Today is a hard day for the Ukrposhta family,” Smilianskyi said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Olha’s relatives, her loved ones, and her son. We wish them strength to endure this unbearable pain.”

On the same day, another Ukrposhta vehicle was hit by a Russian drone in the Kherson region, but all personnel survived and are in good condition. The damaged vehicle will be repaired.
“Despite everything, Ukrposhta continues to work and stand by Ukrainians all along the front line,” Smilianskyi added. “We’re proud of our postal heroes. Eternal memory to those we’ve lost.”
Earlier, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone strike on the city of Lozova in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, deploying more than 30 Shahed-type drones over 30 minutes.
As a result of the strike, fires broke out in multiple locations. Damage was reported to railway infrastructure, residential buildings, and an energy facility.
“One man was killed. Another ten people were injured or suffered acute stress reactions. Among the victims are a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy,” the statement said.
