Russia intends to prolong its military campaign against Ukraine rather than seek an end to the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated during a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on September 3.
Zelenskyy underlined that recent attacks demonstrate Moscow’s unwillingness to pursue peace. “And this is a clear signal that Russia rejects any attempts to end the war and wants to continue fighting. We must proceed from the fact that this is now the main scenario for Russia,” he said.
The president pointed out that large-scale strikes, including the overnight assault on September 3, have become a regular occurrence. According to him, Russia is conducting massive attacks several times a week, targeting Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Over the past two weeks, Russian forces have carried out repeated strikes using drones and missiles against Ukraine’s energy grid and urban areas. These attacks follow a broader pattern observed since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, when Russia intensified pressure on Ukraine during key diplomatic discussions with Western partners.
The press conference with Frederiksen took place amid ongoing international talks on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. Denmark, alongside other European allies, has pledged military and financial assistance to Kyiv, with a focus on bolstering protection against aerial threats.
Earlier, in an interview with Deutsche Welle on August 30, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that Ukraine is committed to a just and lasting peace and insisted that “sooner or later, Russia will sit at the table,” stressing Kyiv’s confidence that it will emerge as the winner in negotiations.
