Satellite Images Reveal Crippled Russian Warship Towed After Ukrainian Strike on Novorossiysk

Satellite imagery captured on November 25 shows a damaged Russian warship being towed by two tugboats in the port of Novorossiysk, following a recent Ukrainian drone strike.
The footage was published by OSINT researcher Tom Bike, who assessed the vessel as likely being a Project 1171 large landing ship.

According to Bike, the use of two tugboats and the nature of the ship’s movement indicate significant damage. His analysis aligns with earlier Ukrainian reports claiming successful strikes on Russian naval infrastructure in the Black Sea region.
Ukrainian outlet hromadske, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, previously reported that a Russian landing ship was hit during a drone attack on Novorossiysk. While the Russian military has not confirmed the strike, the observed towing operation suggests operational disruption.
Project 1171 landing ships are designed for amphibious assaults, including direct deployment of troops and equipment onto unprepared shorelines.

They are capable of carrying armored vehicles, including tanks. The Orsk and Nikolay Filchenkov are among the remaining active vessels of this class in Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
Tom Bike noted that Russian naval forces frequently rotate vessel positions within ports to reduce the risk of repeat attacks. The latest imagery, however, shows clear signs of distress, with the ship being repositioned for likely repairs.
Earlier on November 25, Ukraine conducted coordinated long-range strikes on key Russian military and energy infrastructure, including the Beriev Aircraft Plant in Taganrog—home to A-50 and Tu-95 bombers—reportedly destroying the rare A-60 laser aircraft.
