Ukrainian defense forces conducted coordinated overnight strikes on multiple high-value Russian military and industrial targets, including one of the country’s largest oil refineries, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 4.

The attack reportedly hit the Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kirishi, Leningrad region, where explosions and fires were observed following the strike.

The facility has an annual processing capacity of about 18.4 million tons of crude oil, making it one of Russia’s largest refineries. The extent of the damage is being assessed, the General Staff said.

In addition to the refinery strike, Ukrainian forces also targeted a Buyan-M class small missile ship located near Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia. Preliminary reports suggest the vessel sustained damage, though the full scale of destruction remains under evaluation.

Further south, Ukrainian forces struck a Garmon radar complex and a transport-loading vehicle from the Iskander missile system in Russia’s Kursk region. Ukrainian officials confirmed both targets were successfully hit.

The General Staff also reported a strike on the command post of Russia’s 8th Army, which operates on the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. According to the statement, the target was hit, with results being clarified.

“The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue a systematic campaign to destroy Russian military infrastructure and degrade its military and economic potential, particularly in logistics, fuel supply, munitions, and weapons,” the statement from the General Staff added.

Earlier, a long-range drone strike reportedly hit the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia’s Orenburg region, about 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Footage showed thick smoke and explosions at the facility, which has a processing capacity of 6.6 million tons of crude annually and produces fuel for Russia’s domestic supply chain.
