Trump Tells Putin to Prioritize Ending War in Ukraine Over Mediating Middle East

US President Donald Trump has dismissed Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s offer to mediate the conflict between Israel and Iran, urging him instead to focus on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Speaking at a press conference, Trump revealed he had spoken with Putin on June 17—although the White House has not confirmed the conversation. The only publicly acknowledged call between the two leaders occurred on June 14.
According to Trump, during the exchange, Putin expressed Russia’s willingness to act as a mediator in the escalating tension in the Middle East.

“I said, do me a favor. Mediate your own,” Trump told reporters. “Let's mediate Russia first, okay? I said, Vladimir, let's mediate Russia first. You can worry about this later.”
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron has rejected the notion of Russian leader Vladimir Putin serving as a mediator between Israel and Iran, stating that Russia lacks both the credibility and legitimacy for such a role, according to The Times of Israel.
Macron publicly dismissed a suggestion made by Trump that Putin could help de-escalate rising tensions between Tehran and Jerusalem.
